Director

Organisation/person name:
Femmes d'Arts
Work type:
Temporary: Full-Time
Work classification:
Acting
Job description:

Katrina, late 30s is on a mission to get her kids to school and get herself to work on time.   She’s pretty organised and onto it, but dealing with kids and the morning routine presents unexpected challenges which she is determined to overcome.  Nothing is going to stop her getting to work, bad as it gets.

I need a really strong lead to play Katrina, as it is a film  which relies on visual gags.  Katrina also needs to be serious in her mission, sympathetic, desperate and have a cynical side, and we need to doubt whether or not she’s going to make it. She also needs to be pretty athletic as she may be riding a jetski and a kid’s scooter.

The role may suit a mother with kids who could also play in the film (six months to 7) or who would like 4-5 days away from the family on Waiheke, or a woman who is experimenting with the idea of (not) having children.    We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about, and sees potential for their own input in the project.

The film is a Femmes d’Arts initiative.  Femmes  d’Arts is a Charitable Trust which has been set up to foreground women’s stories and create opportunities for women in the creative arts.   We are currently fundraising for the project and are interestested in hearing from anyone who might be able to help, contribute or be a Trustee or patron.    We aim to work closely with other organisations that encourage and support women, such as WIFT, so that we can complement each other, to provide a stronger woman’s voice.

It’s a no budget film, but the crew (both male and female) have all worked in professional environments and have a strong work ethic.  As the director, I am keen to work collaboratively with the actors and crew to develop a project  which showcases all our talent.    We’re still looking for key crew roles and people who can work efficiently in different areas.

The role could be paid for the right person
