CHILDHOOD VOWS
'The greatest treasure is buried in childhood memories.’
As 17-year-old Wilfred packs his belongings into cardboard boxes, ready to leave his small town for University, his childhood friend, Petra, brings back a dug-up time capsule tin box that they buried together many years ago.
Even though Petra rejected Wilfred’s confession of love the night before, she forces him to join her on one last epic quest. They must bury the box of treasures back into the depths of the nearby bush where, they say, a monster lurks.
Surely enough, when they venture too far, the monster attacks. Wilfred knows that he must protect not only the love of his life, but the childhood memories that they shared together.
ROLES
We are looking for emerging talent with a strong emotional connection with the themes of the story – childhood romance and adventure – and also an unquenchable thirst for fun. These roles will suit actors of any ethnicity or appearance, and previous experience is unnecessary.
WILFRED – Male lead, ages 16 to 24.
As a child, Wilfred was the greatest slayer of imaginary monsters and respected as the bravest protector of good amongst his friends. But now, he knows that he must face reality and grow up. He is drained of his courage and he represses his abundant imagination, but sometimes when he gets excited, he leaks spontaneity from his calm and controlled shell.
PETRA – Female lead, ages 16 to 24.
Unlike Wilfred, Petra never grew up and probably never will. She loved Wilfred in her childhood – he was a dynamo to her creative impulses and the world opened up to infinite possibilities every time they were together. She’s still as hyperactive, as brave and as recklessly direct as she always had been, but she’s only a shadow of herself without her best friend – the Wilfred that used to be.
Unfortunately the roles are unpaid, but travel expenses and catering are covered. We hope that you can see this as an opportunity to work on a joint creative enterprise with other like-minded, enthusiastic people. At the very least, we will provide a copy of the DVD and a credit on the film.
To apply, please email unkofilms@gmail.com and include head-shot and CV if available.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
