Synopsis:
An elderly Samoan man, visits his daughter, Sofia, and young grandson, Robert, in Aotearoa for the first time. For Robert it is the first time he will meet his Granda. Granda cannot speak English and Robert cannot speak Samoan. Robert finds Granda’s style of dress, physical features and speech different and unfamiliar and he approaches his Granda with caution. As the day progresses he observes minor actions and reactions from and toward his Granda which eventually encourage him to let down his guard. A strong bond between Granda and grandson is inevitable.
