Te Karere, TVNZ’s Maori news programme is seeking a casual, as and when required Translator/Subtitler to provide cover to this role within the team. Therefore, this casual contract does not have set hours per week and is not a permanent position.
We want an innovative self-starter who can translate Te Karere from Maori to English and to produce excellent quality live and offline captions within deadline.
Amongst other key attributes the successful applicant will have a proven ability to:
- Produce captions that are translated and edited to an excellent standard, with correct grammar and punctuation
- Work effectively and constructively in a team
- Have an excellent working knowledge of the Maori and English languages
- Be a fast touch-typist with a well-honed attention to detail and sense of accuracy
- Have a sound general knowledge, interest in current affairs and Maori culture
- Work well under pressure
- Have a good level of computer literacy.
