Work classification:

Job description:

Artists throughout New Zealand are invited to submit proposals for exhibiting at the upcoming Exhibition 2011 at Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens.

Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens is a tranquil, peaceful oasis set in gardens on a rural property looking out to the Kaipara Harbour. It features selected contemporary sculptures, created by established and emerging New Zealand artists which are all for sale and the exhibition is completely changed each year.

The sculpture gardens have been developed in conjunction with Kaipara Coast Plant Centre which has been owned and operated by David and Geraldine Bayly from this site since 1988. The site was developed so that visitors to the gardens can stroll along the sculpture trail and find inspiration for selecting sculptures and plants to enhance their gardens and property while enjoying great views of the rural setting.

You are invited to submit a proposal for a new or existing work(s), to be exhibited on a sale or return basis for a period of  12 months unless sold prior.

New sculptural works are sought  that make the most of the rural landscape with a mix of grassy slopes, ponds, wetland area, formal gardens, native plantings, an orchard, pine planting and views to the Kaipara Harbour.

Sculptures in a range of sizes, mediums and price ranges, including static, kinetic, utilising light,  sound or water, ephemeral or conceptual in nature that  reflect contemporary sculptural practice will all be considered. Preference will be given to new work that has not been exhibited before.

Artists need to take into account that work must be sufficiently strong and of weather resistant materials to remain installed at the site for 12 months and to have longevity for the purchaser.

This project is seeking sculptures for installation between 20th and 31st of October 2010 with the opening of the exhibition to the public on November 20th, so please return your proposals by Thursday 1st July. You are welcome to submit more than one proposal.

This is a great opportunity for your work to be displayed in a setting that will create excellent exposure for you and will be conducive to generating sales of your sculptures.
