Role advertised is for the mother of Ryan
This short film is based around Two boys aged 14. The main boy has Leukaemia and the other is his best friend they are lively and comedic.
A basic story breakdown is the family has just found out that Ryan’s (the son) chemo wasn’t effective enough so the next step is a bone marrow transplant. As it is believed Ryan has no siblings he will be put on the donor list if the parents aren’t a match.
However the parents have a secret, they have another child one they adopted out because she was born out of wedlock, a sin against their Christian beliefs, one that their families did not want to be shamed for so they were forced to give the child up.
When the parents return from the doctors they argue about what to do about the child they once gave up. The father wants to ask the daughter for help but the mother is against the idea. At this point it is revealed that the dad has been in contact with his daughter behind his wife’s back. However the Mother still does not want to ask the daughter for help as by acknowledging her will be opening the door to a past she has kept buried for 22 years.
Unknown to them their son is eavesdropping on the argument. When he learns that he has a sister that could help him live he enlists the help of his best friend to help him find her. He is not concerned with the consequences he and his parents may face.
