Web and multi-media campaigner

NZEI Te Riu Roa is the dynamic and innovative organisation representing the professional and industrial interests of 49,000 primary and early childhood teachers, specialist education and advisory staff and school support staff. Overall Purpose
The Communications Team’s overall purpose is to engage members in winning NZEI’s goals, priorities and campaigns by:
- Leading campaign design;
- Creating and preserving the identity of NZEI;
- Communicating effectively;
- Providing the appropriate information, resources and tools.
Key responsibilities
The Web and Multi-media campaigner is responsible for creating and driving content through NZEI websites, email, blogs, video and other electronic medium that will maximise member involvement in NZEI campaigns.
Function
- Producing high quality copy for NZEI’s websites, regular fortnightly electronic news bulletins and other email newsletters;
- Developing strategies to increase website visits and member engagement.
- Liaising with staff to generate web content;
- Helping devise web-based and email campaigns;
- Shooting, editing and distributing video content for campaigns;
- Representing the communications team in national steering groups;
- Contributing information and ideas to communications projects.
Relationships
- Liaise and work collaboratively with all staff, particularly professional staff and industrial advocates
- Interact in a professional manner with NZEI members, students and the wider community
Necessary skills and abilities
- High level of creative skills in all aspects of web and multi-media production;
- Understanding and experience of using e-technology to drive campaign messaging;
- Initiative and self-motivation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a close-knit team;
- Excellent workload management skills;
- High level of creativity and innovation;
- Very organised;
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills;
- Good attention to detail;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Awareness of education policy issues and a commitment to the goals of NZEI and to the Treaty of Waitangi.
- High level of technical competence in all aspects of web technology and multimedia production, including tailoring images and video for the web, use of Dreamweaver, html coding and a range of other content management systems
Location
The position is based in the National Office, Wellington, with national team responsibility.
Some travel may be required
- develop, implement, evalaute web-based campaign strategies
- Proven design, web writing and editing ability
