Auckland War Memorial Museum is seeking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager for a full time (40 hours per week), two year fixed term contract.

Department: Capital Projects

Term: Fixed Term, starting from1/10/2009 to 30/09/2011

Closing date: 18/09/2009

Key Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Capital Projects and Programming team. Reporting directly to the Head of Project Management, key responsibilities for this role are:  

• Responsibility for overall operational management of exhibitions, public events and physical presentation of the visitor experience. 

• Expertly manage team members with a focus on performance management and professional development 

• Attend and objectively evaluate all major public events and entertainment activities

Qualifications

The successful applicant must have:  

• A degree in a related field or equivalent 

• Minimum of 7 years experience in a project and/or production management environment 

• Proven record in managing teams within a project based environment 

• Demonstrable understanding of operations required to support major public event activities.  

Experience with complex collection based, multimedia intensive Museum exhibitions is preferred.
