One position is available at the School of Architecture and Planning located within The University of Auckland's multidisciplinary faculty, the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI), which offers excellent facilities and opportunities for career advancement.

The School includes undergraduate and postgraduate planning programmes that are accredited by the New Zealand Planning Institute. The teaching and research strengths in Planning include:

  • Urban policy
  • Environmental management and law
  • Sustainable urban design
  • Planning theory
  • Statutory planning and implementation.

Applications are invited from candidates with a professionally recognised qualification in planning, a postgraduate research qualification and practical experience. Candidates would be expected to establish a research programme and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in urban planning. The successful candidate will deliver teaching in the newly established Master of Urban Planning (MUrbPlan), Master of Urban Design (MUrbDes) as well as contributing to the BPlan(Hons).

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with expertise in urban economic development and urban design. Knowledge of the New Zealand context is highly desirable. Experience in policy development and evaluation would also be an advantage.
