Membership and Office Administrator

Organisation/person name:
YWCA of Wellington and Hutt Valley
Work type:
Contract
Work classification:
Administration - Business
Job description:

6 month contract, 15 hours per week flexible between 9am-5pm

This new role will report into the new Executive Director position. The Wellington YWCA is looking to boost its membership after a decline over the past years. The Membership and Office Administrator will recruit and maintain the membership and donations, clear generic enquiries by phone and email and provide administration support as required by the Executive Director.

In the Wellington region, the YWCA runs free programmes – Discover, a school girls mentoring leadership programme; Encore, an after breast cancer recovery course; and a small grants fund for young Maori women projects. This position will ensure the paperwork is up to date and all participant information is recorded and followed up with membership sales, relationship manage key contractors and those who participate in one of the courses outlined.

Membership registration targets will be rewarded at the end of six months, developed from program participants and supporters. Exceptional targets may turn the position into a permanent contract. Though the position has membership targets to meet, they will be required to assist with major YWCA membership events and assist with the running of the office. Regular cleaning of the main office areas will also be required – so an ability to juggle a wide range of tasks will be required.

The position also will maintain registrations with the information and publications of relevant stakeholders; collect and collate material relevant to YWCA progammes.

An event coordination or relevant qualification and/or work experience in sales and/or membership of at least 1-2 years is required – although other relevant experience will be considered. Advanced computer skills, in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and MYOB data entry experience are a must.

Successful applicants should demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and have an interest in the work of the YWCA and women’s empowerment. It’s a small team environment, so a good team player will thrive in this environment.

The YWCA of Wellington and Hutt Valley is a part of the largest international women's organisation, active in 110 countries, uniting 25 million women in the world. YWCAs around the world are involved in a wide variety of programmes and activities, designed to empower women.
