We are seeking a full-time Communications Manager to be based at UNICEF NZ’s office in central Wellington. 

The role involves promoting UNICEF’s work for children in humanitarian emergencies and development, along with providing communications support for advocacy and fundraising initiatives and campaigns. It is primarily an external communications role.

The role requires a strategic approach to communications that promotes key UNICEF messages and values in support of fundraising, advocacy, publications and special events. An understanding of social media is important.

The significant media relations component includes developing and maintaining relationships with journalists; writing op-eds, media releases and articles; working with Goodwill Ambassadors; and promoting UNICEF’s work in emergencies.

The role requires availability for domestic and international travel.

Experience of working for a development agency / in the NGO sector would be an advantage, although not essential.
