Web Editor
The National Library is looking for someone who loves words and the web to join our Customer Engagement Team.
The Web Editor at the National Library manages the day-to-day operations of the Library’s corporate website www.natlib.govt.nz and the Library’s intranet, Mātāpuna. Both sites are built on the Plone content management system.
Corporate website
The Web Editor is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the site, ensuring the content is relevant to site visitors, up to date and meets the Library’s style guidelines.
The Web Editor also works with staff throughout the Library to develop new content for the website, with the goal of increasing site usage. The Web Editor will be closely involved in any major redevelopments of the site’s functionality, information architecture or design.
Intranet
The Web Editor is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the intranet, and training and supporting staff throughout the Library to use the intranet well.
The Web Editor would be likely to lead any major redevelopments of the intranet’s functionality, information architecture or design.
Other responsibilities
From time to time the Web Editor assists with content development for new or redeveloped websites and services.
There is opportunity for the Web Editor to be involved in the Library’s work using social media channels (such as the @nlnz Twitter account and the Library’s membership of The Commons on Flickr) or to propose and run new channels.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Excellent writing, editing and proof reading skills
- Experience writing for the web
- Experience writing engaging copy for different audiences
- Strong customer focus and a flexible and responsive working style.
Experience using a Content Management System is highly desirable. Experience in user research/testing, communications or marketing, or using social media channels in an organisational context would be beneficial.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a couple of year’s experience in a web, communications, publishing or similar role who wants to focus on web work, develop their skills and help shape the Library’s online outreach.
This is a full time fixed-term position, advertised due to a secondment within the team.
