This is an exciting opportunity to join a world famous organisation that represents New Zealand’s culture and heritage. Working closely with the Loans Manager this administrative role sees you seeking to eliminate, minimise and manage loan risk.
You will act as the key liaison between museum staff, gathering relevant information before negotiating with lenders and borrowers to seal the deal.
In this role, your main duties will be to:
- Negotiate loans of collection items by assessing and managing the risks and cost involved
- Monitor compliance of the lending and borrowing procedures
- Ensure each loan comes with valid documentation and contracts
- Document all loan activity by data entry into a database, Excel spread sheets and physical files
- Provide excellent customer service by managing customer relationships
- Facilitate and strengthen relationships with Iwi
- Develop bicultural capability within the Loans team (ideally).
This role will enable you to work autonomously and collaboratively within the Loans team, while building strong relationships with a variety of staff. Your tact and diplomacy will enable you to gather required information from staff, from within the museum and other organisations, to meet deadlines for lending and borrowing collection items. A strong work ethic and in-depth MS Excel knowledge is essential to you accurately inputting and tracking the status and progress of each loan transaction, part of maintaining records for use by the entire team. This role would suit somebody who is interested in administration but wants the opportunity to learn and develop a career within the museum sector.
