9 month contract, 25 hours per week, flexible between 9am-5pm

The YWCA is focusing on a positive change as we launch into 2010, one of those initiatives are with how we strategically move forward, with leadership being our key driver as we deliver to meet identified current and future needs to all women in Wellington.

The new Executive Director will develop and maintain an organisational culture based on high levels of motivation, integrity and performance.

Some of the key objectives of the role are:

  • Annual plans are required to plan for the work and tasks for delivery staff.
  • Managing a small team of admin staff and contractors, including team management/HR experience
  • All operational aspects of the organisation and office, including sub-tenancies
  • Key driver will be to ensure income sustainability for existing and new income generating programmes. Proven programme development, fundraising and sponsorship experience is essential. Leadership role in events, networks and sponsorship ideas, but will be looking to move into a more governance role over the next few months
  • Have proven Wellington networks/connections. Regular communication/presentations to local key contacts are critical to this role as for brand awareness and to the success of the YWCA

The new role will drive forward and assist with all goals in accordance to our new 2010-2012 strategic plan and current free programmes – eg: Discover, a school girls mentoring leadership programme; Encore, an after breast cancer recovery course; and a small grants fund for young Maori women projects all have staff and volunteers requiring management of KPIs to grow each programme in 2010.  

This position, in conjunction with the President, will continue to heighten the profile of the Wellington YWCA with government officials, current and potential foundation, corporate and individual funders, media, and the general. They will build and maintain effective relationships with schools, various women’s stakeholders and constituencies.
