Job description: 

Te Aka Matua Library is based within Te Papa and has strengths in the areas of NZ history, mātauranga Māori, natural environment, NZ contemporary art and museum studies.

You will be responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective interlibrary loan system. You will also be expected to assist in the provision of library based information services and manage the library staff roster.

To be successful in this position you will have:
• A library qualification, be customer focused and have a good understanding of the principles of librarianship
• Proven experience at operating an interlibrary loan system
• Sound analytical skills to manage the library staff roster system
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and cultures
• Commitment to working in a bicultural environment

You will be rostered on the library’s public reference desk and will be at ease dealing with museum staff and the public. It is essential that you are available to work a five-day week rostered over seven days.

This is fixed term for 4 months.
