Maori Engagement Manager, RWC 2011
Auckland will be the hub of Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) as it plays host to 12 matches including the Opening Match, both Semi-Finals and the Final. A Regional Steering Group is working across Auckland to ensure we maximise the opportunities this mega event provides. Fundamentally, the role of Maori Engagement Manager supports the Regional Steering Group to ensure that Auckland Maori feel engaged in the Tournament in Auckland.
Whilst this role is predominantly behind the scenes, we seek a person with a high degree of judgement, with strong networks and credible relationships in the Maori environment, particularly with iwi across Auckland. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive engagement plan for Maori and also the development and support of a Maori work stream that will have a number of Maori stakeholders that will provide strategic support for you. This work stream will cover multiple levels of interaction with other work streams including economic development, community events and festival participation. You will engage with iwi, hapu, taurahere, Te Puni Kokiri and a variety of urban Maori agencies. Beyond that, the role is mixed in terms of responsibility from stakeholder guidance, reports, research through to liaising with Maori businesses and organisations.
Alongside your relationship management skills, you will present strong planning skills and project management exposure within a complex business environment. You will also have a high level of problem solving and decision making skills.
Please note that there will be a need for flexibility outside standard work hours at some stages.
