costume maker
We need people to help us fill our wardrobe of replica Victorian costume.
Some patterns available, all fabric will be supplied but we are missing the people to put them together. We need keen sewers to create these wearable costumes that are used everyday in the living museum Howick Historical Village in Auckland.
You will need to use your own sewing machine and do some handsewing, we aim for authentic replicas wherever possible. You will be able to view our own heritage collection of 2000 museum pieces for inspiration.

- Howick Historical Village
Howick Historical Village is an open air museum with 30 heritage buildings furnished with decor and displays highlighting the fencible period of 1840-1880. Costumed villagers are present on Live Days (every third Sunday of the month) and engage in Victorian crafts and pastimes.
Museum staff care for the artefacts which have been donated by the community and range from fabulous Victorian clothing, to military campaign desks with a focus on authentic domestic items. An archive, library and art collection can be researched by appointment. www.fencible.org.nz
Heritage gardens, chickens and rabbits make the village an beautiful relaxing family outing.
