Bledisloe Light Boxes - Exhibition Proposals
Call for expressions of interest for Bledisloe Light Boxes exhibitions
Submissions are now open for exhibition proposals for the Bledisloe Walkway Light Boxes in Auckland’s CBD. The light boxes offer artists, curators and arts organisations the opportunity to exhibit in a unique format in a high-profile location.
The aim of the Light Box programme is to exhibit the work of leading contemporary artists. The focus is on proposals from Auckland-based arts professionals and organisations.
The Light Box programme meets two of council’s key expectations for public art by “creating richness” through the diversity of artists’ expressions and stories over time; and “generating surprise” through exhibitions that will surprise, delight and challenge over time.
The five light boxes are situated in the Bledisloe Walkway, which runs between Aotea Square and Wellesley Street. The boxes are 1840mm wide x 1000mm high. Approximately six exhibitions featuring the work of both individual artists, and curated group exhibitions are held each year.
The costs associated with the exhibition are covered by the Auckland Council public art budget, and an exhibition fee is paid to the selected artists.
To submit a proposal, or for more information see the attached Light Box Exhibition Proposal Form or the Auckland City Council website: http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/whatson/arts/publicart/lightboxes.asp
The last day for submissions for this round is Monday 28 February 2011, for exhibitions that will take place in the second half of 2011.
