Gateway Sculpture Call for Submissions
Huge new sculpture for Wellington
The Wellington Sculpture Trust is calling for submissions for a gateway sculpture to be installed in New Zealand’s capital city, on the motorway alongside Wellington Harbour.
The search is for a replacement of the previously chosen Hook of Maui, which was abandoned for technical and cost reasons. A budget of $900,000 has been set for the project with the funds coming half from the City Council funds allocated to the original project and half from private donors. Concepts and preliminary drawings are required by mid-March 2010.
Details of the brief for the project are on the Trust's website www.sculpture.org.nz home page, click News and Events.
