MOTAT – The Museum of Transport and Technology seeks a highly motivated full time Educator to join their creative and vibrant Education team.

MOTAT offer a wide range of innovative and fun learning experiences. Along with two other Educators, you are responsible for the development and delivery of innovative, interactive, engaging and relevant school visit experiences and educational themes for all age groups in accordance with the New Zealand Curriculum satisfying teacher, student and customer needs.

Reporting to the Education Coordinator, responsibilities include:

• Providing a memorable, ‘hands-on’, interactive learning experience
• Promote learning through ‘best practise’ in accordance with the NZ Teachers Council Satisfactory Teacher Dimensions.
• Develop educational themes for the Museum Experience by interpreting MOTAT’s collection.
• Identify student learning through teacher negotiation
• Keep up to date with the NZ Curriculum Framework, Educational and Museum changes
• Support and contribute to the Museum Experience Team

Most of all you will have a proven track record of all facets of education from Early Childhood to Secondary level. Together with a teaching qualification you have demonstrated strong knowledge and experience working with the current New Zealand education curriculum. Talking confidently to large groups as well as being physically fit due to the lifting, carrying and set up of props you will also have a flair for creative ideas and thinking outside the square.
