Sculpture Symposium: Call for entries
Uxbridge Creative Centre in conjunction with the Howick Village Association presents a three-day Sculpture Symposium on Fencible Walk, Howick from March 10th-12th 2011.
The symposium promotes sculpture in the community with artists working in the public domain to produce a sculpture from initial sketches to the final product. The symposium is open to all New Zealand residents and will involve sculptors working in the open-air on Fencible Walk and creating a completed sculpture during the three-day symposium period. A panel of judges will select one work to be purchased by the local Howick Board for a prize of $1500, with the winning work to be installed at a location within the new Howick political ward.
Limited spaces are available and interested artists are invited to submit proposals to the Uxbridge curator: exhibitions@uxbridge.org.nz by January 31st 2011. Proposals must include size of finished sculpture, materials involved, concept behind the work, method of working, and - if possible - preliminary sketches. Please contact the curator before you submit your proposal. Please note that there may be a small registration fee.
There will be power available at the site, and Fencible Walk will be patrolled by security over the three-day symposium period.
For further information, please contact the curator either by email or by phone: 09 535 6467.
