Director/Outside Eye
Our piece focuses around a structured piece of storytelling. We are currently recording interviews from 8-88 years old. We will then edit and perform verbatim. Everyone has a story, we take responsibility for telling very personal stories. Our work will have a high level of innovation and experimentation: our method uses an integration of interview technique (rapport with subject), technology (we use iPod’s with the original interview recording in our ears) and precise acting method similar to a physical score. We were part of a collective which developed the “simultaneous speech” method during a year long investigation (Gathered in Confidence, 2008). We use iPod technology to fulfill our self-made criteria of honoring the subject by removing as much ‘acting’ interpretation of our material as possible. In this show we hope to experiment even further with the possibilities of this new technique- turning the cameras on each other.
We are looking for someone with experience to provide an outside eye perspective and feedback as the documentary theatre piece develops for its season at BATS for the Fringe Festival. There is potential for continued development for this piece.
