Production Manager
The Wellington Summer Shakespeare is looking for a competent and enthusiastic Production Manager to be a valuable part of the 2012 production, Twelfth Night.
The Summer Shakespeare is a Wellington institution, extending back to 1983 when Adrian Kiernander's memorable A Midsummer Night's Dream took over the Victoria University quadrangle. Since then, the annual Summer Shakespeare has become known for its energetic, large-cast, outdoor productions and festive approach to the plays. As our Production Manager you would have the opportunity to be involved in a professional level production, as well as a unique tradition that attracts theatre goers from all regions of Wellington and all walks of life.
We are looking for an energetic, professional multi-tasker to oversee production and coordinate with the director, producer and stage manager throughout the rehearsal and performance period. This is a big, integral, and hopefully rewarding role.
You will have:
- Experience in managing theatre productions, preferably large-scale or outdoor productions
- Leadership skills to direct a large team and work with a wide range of people, including younger performers
- Knowledge of production issues such as health and safety, fire safety, and risk assessment
- Patience, humour and a good nature.
Please note that Twelfth Night will be held in two venues: a preview season at the Gladstone Vineyard in the Wairarapa; and the principal season at the Wellington Botanic Garden Dell. The Production Manager is responsible for both venues.
-Management skills (budgeting and people)
-Technical theatre experience
-Good attitude
