Q Theatre Cafe / Bar – opens this year 

Q Theatre, Auckland’s brightest performing arts venue will open its doors mid 2011. The construction of one of New Zealand’s most innovative theatres is well underway and we have an opportunity for a switched on Cafe/Bar Manager to establish a new cafe/bar at Q.

We are looking for someone with the right flair and strong business acumen to establish and run a successful cafe/bar operation under the umbrella Q Theatre. The cafe/bar will be an integral part of the theatre, reflecting the Q Theatre brand values while being established as an independent business unit.

In the period leading up to Q’s opening, you will work with our small and highly committed team that will establish the theatre and its cafe and bar as Auckland’s premier entertainment experience.

Your role will be to establish and run the cafe/bar; undertake market research to develop independent clientele for this area and manage the cafe/bar to consistently high standards. In leading up to opening you will establish the systems, procedures and policies, recruit staff and ensure a smooth and effective running of the business unit.

While the cafe/bar is an integral part of Q Theatre it is important that it develops as an independent business that caters to the wide range of customers within this area.

Once open, you will maintain and grow the business so that Q Theatre’s artists and audiences enjoy an excellent service and the cafe/bar complements the establishment of Q Theatre as the premier Auckland professional performing entertainment venue.

We are looking for someone to:

• Establish and oversee the running of the cafe/bar.
• Ensure that the efficient management of the cafe & bar is established and maintained to Q Theatre standards
• Be responsible for running the cafe/bar and managing all service staff
