Artistic Director
The Artistic Director will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and enhancing the Fortune’s artistic vision as articulated in the Theatre’s strategic plan. S/he will be responsible for the overall artistic philosophy and direction of the Fortune Theatre, the selection of its artistic activities and for the quality and articulation of these activities. S/he will be the public face of the Fortune Theatre within the local and national community.
The Artistic Director will work in conjunction with the General Manager under the authority of the Fortune Theatre Trust Board to achieve the overall management of the Fortune Theatre. The Artistic Director will have a proven record in theatre, putting on successful and innovative plays at the highest level. S/he will be a powerful networker in the theatre industry and will have an entrepreneurial approach. It is also expected that s/he will be something of an impresario - and have brilliant new ideas about theatre - but also have appropriate commercial realism. S/he will need to inspire a team and be a good communicator, both within the company, and externally, to audiences, funders and sponsors.
Proven track record as theatrical practitioner and leader; proven ability to work successfully to set budgets and manage teams
