Visiting Artist - Theatrical Director
The term of employment is 12-weeks during the period 8 November 2010 to 18 March 2011. This period encompasses two distinct parts, cast selection and commencement of rehearsals prior to Christmas and continued rehearsals and production in the New Year. The successful candidate’s main focus will be direction of the Manawatu Summer Shakespeare Festival which culminates in public performances in the Victoria Esplanade, Palmerston North during March 2011. Performers and production team are drawn both from Massey students and staff as well as members of the Manawatu community.
The Visiting Artist will also have the opportunity to:
Develop and progress his/her own work;
Work with extramural students at contact courses held in January 2011;
Work closely with staff and students within the School;
Provide workshops/presentations for the Manawatu Community.
The Visiting Artist will receive a salary of NZ$10,000 and rent-free use of a downtown flat.
Ability to direct one of Shakespeare's plays with amateur performers in an outdoors community setting .
