Synopsis
The story of Albert is humorous, sad, tragic and most of all, human. A simple boy who affects not only his fellow school children, but also his teachers. The dark secret of his background is the basis of the story. The variety of characters that are involved are colourful and complex and will challenge any actor.

Cast required

• Headmaster Tope – male - Self Important but has a soft side. Condescending to school children.
• Enid Nuttall – female - Ill-educated. A disturbed woman.
• Albert Nuttall – male - A simple uncomplicated youth - he changes other people's lives.
• Primrose Macaveney – female - A warm hearted female, but slightly coarse -life doesn't always work in her favour.
• Miss Mint/ A little girl – female - one person to play adult and child – Miss Mint - English/Drama teacher.
• Miss Hemsley/Nora Tooly - female one person to play adult and child – Miss Hemsley - Social Worker.
• Miss Partington/Barbara Batch – female - one person to play adult and child - Miss Partington - teaches religion / Barbara - a friend of Primrose.
• Mr Leatherbottle/Shane Butterworth – male - one person to play adult and child - Mr. Leatherbottle - P.T. teacher / Shane - A sickly boy.
• Eric Smallshow/ Charlie Shorrocks – male - one person to play adult and child - Eric - Enid's brother, a lay-a-bout / Charlie - a school bully.
