AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 'RENT' - the powerful and critically acclaimed rock musical

Male and female talent is sought for Auckland Music Theatre’s all new production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera “RENT”, to be staged at The Civic, THE EDGE in April/May 2010.

Described by Rolling Stone magazine as “a raw and riveting milestone in musical theatre”, RENT is Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical, one of the longest running shows on Broadway.

RENT is a revolutionary modern rock opera, updating Puccini’s classic “La Boheme”, and is widely considered the greatest rock musical of modern times. Set in the late 1980's in New York City's Bohemian East Village, this stirring musical tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists, writers and musicians struggling to live and pay their rent. "Measuring their lives in love," these starving artists strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and loss; all while celebrating their creative spirit, choosing to live life as if there is No Day But Today!

Auditions will be held in Auckland, December 2009. Registration essential.
