LIBRARY MANAGER

Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School has a vacancy for a full time Library Manager with a vision for the role of a tertiary education library in the 21st century and the passion to make it happen.

Toi Whakaari’s Nola Millar Library houses New Zealand’s most extensive specialist performing arts collection. It provides library services to the NZ School of Dance as well as external subscribers.

Toi Whakaari is committed to becoming a unique New Zealand learning environment and the Library has a major role to play in the School’s growth over the next decade. The Library Manager will lead the ongoing development of an already exciting specialist learning library.

Essential requirements include:

• Relevant tertiary qualification and a library qualification or eligibility for Professional Registration with LIANZA or the equivalent in training and experience
• Commitment to and interest in the exploration of contemporary educational pedagogies
• Interest in and sensitivity to young people and their learning needs
• Ability to strategise, plan and lead
• Ability to manage staff
• A high standard of computer literacy including expertise with managing and running library IT system

Desirable attributes:

• Considerable reference experience and skills in information retrieval in a tertiary education library
• Understanding of contemporary performing arts practice
• Experience with Inmagic
• Knowledge of performing arts literature
