The University of Canterbury is expanding its staff in te reo Māori and Indigenous studies. We are currently seeking applications for two continuing positions in te reo Māori at the lecturer or senior lecturer level. Applicants are invited to apply who are interested in taking up positions in late 2011 or early 2012 with experience and skills that are commensurate with these positions. To be successful applicants will have proven experience in teaching te reo at the tertiary level and have a passion and desire to help students achieve high levels of fluency at both the undergraduate and postgraduate.

Thesis supervision and research experience in te reo Māori and related disciplines also highly desirable .and the willingness to contribute to other Māori and Indigenous papers also an asset.

At the lecturer and senior lecturer role in particular successful applicants will be expected to take on leadership roles in the School whether it be in teaching, research or school administration.

Staff provide leadership in a range of professional fields and are active in the community. There is a strong emphasis on developing students as fluent te reo Māori speakers and critical thinkers and responsible members of society.
