The OuterEdge Project

Sanderson Contemporary Art is launching a new contemporary art project aimed at providing an ongoing venue for non-commercial exhibitions in Parnell.

The OuterEdge project is a large viewing window devoted to site-specific, innovative contemporary art works. The 2m x 4m window is located next to La Bocca restaurant on the North Western side of Sanderson Gallery, facing into a courtyard lane.

OuterEdge will see a new exhibition launched each month to coincide with the new gallery late night in Parnell. Projects will be viewable from 10am-10pm daily.

The gallery is currently seeking submissions from artists who would like to utilise the OuterEdge space for a project. Priority will be given to projects that are site specific and have good potential for audience engagement. The gallery may run a programme of ancillary events around the projects so exhibiting artists should be prepared to talk or prepare an essay about their concept, process or format.

Artists will be invited to mount projects and selections will also be made from independent submissions. Submissions are welcome from artists not represented by Sanderson Contemporary Art.

The first 3 scheduled projects are from: Andre Hamer, Brendan McGorry and Ana Horomia.

Email your proposal to tamara@sanderson.co.nz. Proposals should include a short paragraph on the intent of the work and how you will address the site. You should include a CV, relevant biographical information and any other relevant information related to the project. Images will be essential – concept drawings, images of previous works, etc. Please send all information in your proposal in a single email, no more than 2MB in size.
