Visitor Hosts
The Museum currently has 2 vacancies within the Visitor Host team for full-time positions. Reporting to the Duty Managers, Visitor Hosts are responsible for warmly welcoming visitors to the Museum and providing personalised information to ensure a highly positive, memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
In addition to ensuring the safety and security of visitors, staff and collections, there are opportunities for Visitor Hosts to assist with the delivery of learning programmes and events.
• Greet visitors warmly and in a courteous way.
• Inform visitors about, and pro-actively promote, the Museum’s current exhibitions, relevant operating procedures, admission policy, activities and services.
• Respond to visitor requests for information about neighbouring attractions and other New Zealand museums.
• Assist the Lifelong Learning and Events team in the delivery of school, family, holiday and other group programmes.
• Ensure a safe, comfortable and clean environment for customers.
• Cash handling. Operate cash. Register/EFTPOS/credit card facilities. Reconciliation of cash at the end of the day.
• Maintain security watch on activities inside the Museum.
• Have a background which includes a proven track record in excellent Visitor Services.
• An enjoyment and some experience of working with children is highly desirable.
• Excellent pronunciation of Te Reo Maori and English.
• Current First Aid Certificate is an advantage.
• The ability to speak a second language is not necessary but would be useful.
• Have a passion for NZ heritage, history and culture and a strong understanding of Tikanga and other protocols.
• Security experience is desirable. National Security Certificate would be an advantage.
