Job description: 

Gallery Assistant

  • Takes artwork off the walls for customers and takes them to the checkout area.
  • Attends to enquiries from public and artists.
  • Oversees the safety and security of artworks.
  • In emergencies, will be required to assist the public.
  • Lots of standing and handling of art involved.

Art Hangers

  • Replaces artworks as they get sold

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Background in the arts and / or events.
  • Excellent customer services skills - an open, pleasant and friendly manner is an absolute must.
  • Good physical health - robust, strong and tireless.
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to handle artwork with care
  • Patience in quiet times
  • A good curatorial eye (optional but handy)
  • Experience with powertools (optional)
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure
