Call for Proposals
This event is the first of its kind in New Zealand. It involves several visual and performance art fields including painters, installation artists, paste up artists, stencil artists, mural artists and spray artists as well as performance artists and parkour members together in one place, using the city itself as a canvas.
The event is generously sponsored by Britomart and will take place outside in the Britomart area and will include a range of New Zealand and International Artists.
Lost Play Grounds explores the city as a space for play. Play is a serious business. Derrida talks about the importance of play to find new discoveries and ways of looking at our world and ourselves. This project encompasses these ideas, exploring new ways of looking at our city, moving around it and behaving and living within the city space. It also explores ways that we conform to rules associated within the city space and architecture; rules of behaviour and movement, while exploring possibilities of how the city could be renegotiated to conform to us. Lost Play Grounds also explores the ‘forgotten’ spaces in the city as well as possible found spaces that could be discovered.
Proposal Outlines Due 20th October 2010.
Event takes place 5th -28th February 2011. Work completed 4th February 2011.
Visual Artists, Performance Artists, Installation Artists, Street Artists and Parkour Members.
