Calling all student writers, artists, lovers

Dearest crazy kids across the nation's plains, 

Do you look at the world and see wonder?

Do you flip through the pages of magazines thinking, "I could do better?" 

Well now you can, Peter Pan!

Canta is the student magazine that comes out each week during the school year at the University of Canterbury. Our graduating staff have left us with a bare bones opportunity to start over fresh, so we are putting out a massive call for any and incoming or current students (or not students at all) who have a keen eye for pretty things, a love of pens, pencils, photography, or just getting drunk with their friends and telling everyone about it. We want YOUR thoughts and pieces of paper in our magazine!

We are currently putting together our Orientation issue and have opportunities for any and all interested to jump on board, whether it's just communicating through email and sending in pieces all the way to coming along to our meetings and brainstorming for the magazine and beyond, which may involve us sending you out to gigs, cafes, events, interviewing your favourite bands, picking them up from the airport (if you're into that sort of thing) or whatever else you want to do.  

Love drawing comics? Drop us a line or send something in!

Love photography? Send in things to cover or just hang out with your favourite bands and cover generally awesome events. Shoot our covers perhaps? 

Love writing? You may just be our new best friend... 

But I'm not a student at the University of Canterbury, you say? Doesn't matter. This is a magazine for UC students to read, and we like the whole country. We're not myopic over here. We'll cover anything, so long as it's interesting. Ah, the freedom of student life... it's a sweet thing.

Thus we're looking for contributors from all over the country (and beyond!). Then when you join you get a cool title like 'Wellington correspondent', and who wouldn't like that? As well as being able to put on your CV that you are published in a magazine that circulates to 12,000+ people in the Canterbury region... not bad, we reckon.  

So drop us a line at canta@ucsa.canterbury.ac.nz and introduce yourself and send along some sample pieces of anything if you have 'em to give us a sense of who you are and what you love.
