pin-hole camera images - call for submissions
{lanyop} lagniappe small art gallery is seeking submissions/entries for a group show to be held August 2010. what are we seeking? we are seeking unique PIN-HOLE camera images. as a group show the subject matter is OPEN. the only requirements are that the images have been created using PIN-HOLE cameras and traditional dark-room techniques.
{lanyop} is a very small not-for-profit art space in a private location and open only at night when the sky is dark. images in the gallery are viewed entirely by hand held candlelight.
some visitors suggest the experience is 'magical', victorian, beautiful...i might even go so far as to suggest 'cave painting-esque'.
so, if you are interested make yourself a pin-hole camera, make some images, print them off and email a few (digitally photographed for review) and see if they are selected for the GROUP SHOW.
if your work is selected you will be responsible for mailing image to the gallery with enough postage and handling for the safe return...please note that the work is not insured...but rest assurred that a unique audience will see the works...even though sporadic and spontaneous as it is...
images should be NO LARGER than 3 regular playing cards proportionally aligned in any manner (think about it)
if your work is selected - you are responsible for your own simple framing - to keep into the size constraints...althernatively...the work does not require framing...(and as 'tacky' as it may sound - and be blue-tacked to the black wall)...in complete darkness by candlelight it isn't tacky at all really....and WITHOUT glass (in my mind) for this show is preferable - so there is a further immediacy in viewing the image directly on the photographic paper without glare or distortion from the glass...
email submissions (as many as you like) to lagniappe@ihug.co.nz
Deadline for submitting your entry is from now until June 30.
Works will be selected and requested to be sent to the wee gallery in July for an August 1st opening.
Openings are simple. . . it's all low-key, 'magical', intimate.
unique visual images made from pin-hole cameras in an all-too-digital world
