Call for Proposals for Bledisloe Light Boxes
Submissions are now open for exhibition proposals for the Bledisloe Walkway Light Boxes in Auckland’s CBD. The light boxes offer artists, curators and arts organisations the opportunity to exhibit in a unique format in a high-profile location.
The aim of the Light Box programme is to exhibit the work of innovative contemporary artists.
The Light Box programme meets two of council’s key expectations for public art by “creating richness” through the diversity of artists’ expressions and stories over time; and “generating surprise” through exhibitions that will surprise, delight and challenge over time.
There is a total of six wall-mounted light boxes, five of which are 1840mm wide x 1000mm high; and one smaller one, 550mm wide x 1000mm high, which is generally used for exhibition signage. Approximately four exhibitions featuring the work of both individual artists, and curated group exhibitions are held each year.
The costs associated with the exhibition are covered by the Auckland Council public art budget, and an exhibition fee is paid to the selected artists.
To submit a proposal, or for more information see the attached Light Box Exhibition Proposal Form on the Auckland Council website:
The last day for submissions is the last working day of February and August each year.
