Installation Manager Services Brief 2010

 

NZ Sculpture OnShore wishes to engage the Contractor to provide Installation Team Leader services towards achieving the objectives of the 2010 NZ Sculpture OnShore Exhibition at Fort Takapuna, North Shore.

 

Key dates and timeline:

31 March                              Artist Agreements including installation details available for most artists

10 Oct                                    Installation information provided by artists last deadline

26 Oct – 1 Nov                      Sculptures to be installed

                                                Gallery works to be delivered

2 – 14 November                  Exhibition open to public between 10:00am – 6:00pm daily

15-16 Nov                             De-installation (from 10:00am 15 November - 4pm 16 November)

 

 

The Contractor will support the Curator, Rob Garrett, in undertaking all the responsibilities of the 2010 NZ Sculpture OnShore Exhibition Project, as directed by Rob Garrett and at the instruction of the General Manager, Anne Rodda.

 

In addition to the installation of approximately 100 sculptures on the grounds of Fort Takapuna, the exhibition also features additional works in its temporary indoor gallery.  The Installation Manager may be required to assist in the installation and de-installation of key larger works for the gallery.

Our Vision

 

NZ Sculpture on Shore wishes to achieve a high quality art experience for visitors and to raise significant funds for NZ Friends of Women’s Refuges through the sales of art works, catalogues and entry tickets. NZ Sculpture On Shore is continuing its process of lifting the artistic profile of the exhibition; refining the event’s points of difference; and maintaining the broad volunteer base and wider community of support for the exhibition and its cause.

 

The Curator wishes to achieve exhibition projects that are characterised by the high quality of the art works, the satisfaction of participating artists, the rich engagement of audiences, the professionalism and innovation of our support services and other contributions, and Client experiences that exceed their expectations.

 

Our Business Objectives

 

NZ Sculpture on Shore will deliver a high quality art exhibition that will:

  • Create a lively, informative and engaging experience for visitors;
  • Be an enjoyable, professional, supportive and rewarding experience for participating artists;
  • Contribute to NZSOS meeting all the compliance requirements and outcome expectations of the land owners North Shore City Council and Department of Conservation;
  • Contribute to NZSOS meeting the expectations of sponsors; and
  • Contribute effectively to the fundraising goals of NZ Friends of Women’s Refuges.

 

Scope of Services

 

To provide Installation Team Leader services in the 2010 NZ Sculpture OnShore Exhibition.

 

The role will assist the Rob Garrett who will be Curator of the 2010 Exhibition.

 

NZ Sculpture OnShore Ltd will separately contract and engage additional members of the Installation Team.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

The Contractor will support Rob Garrett,in undertaking the following responsibilities:

  • Assess artists’ installation specifications and advise where these require enhancement;
  • Prepare an installation plan and schedule for artists;
  • Establish, lead and manage an installation crew to support and assist artists during installation and de-installation;
  • Manage and oversee the onsite installation and de-installation of art works;
  • Ensure appropriate quality control measures are in place; and
  • Report progress, risks and exceptions on a regular basis and as required.

 

 

Fees:

 

The fee is negotiable and as a guideline will be based upon the anticipated commitment.

  • Pre-production, 17 days;
  • On-site production (installation), 6 days;
  • On-site production (de-installation), 3 days; and
  • Post-production, 2 days.
