Do you enjoy transforming technical articles into plain language stories? Do you have an eagle eye for grammar?

 

Auckland City Council is looking for a sub-editor for a number of projects, including its weekly publication City Scene (which is currently distributed to over 172,000 households across the city). This demanding and exciting role needs a candidate able to produce copy for diverse audiences. The candidate must also have excellent grammar skills and an eye for detail, and must ensure tight quality controls are adhered to. Working very closely with the editor, you will assist each week in production and making sure the publication is customer-friendly and interesting to read. Additionally, the role will also call for your writing and subbing assistance on the council's online space. Lastly, you will need to be the champion for the council's style guide Get it Write.

 

You must ideally have at least two years writing experience with local newspapers, magazines or corporate publications. A relevant qualification or solid relevant industry experience is desirable. Our preference is that you will have previous experience as a sub-editor.

    - Facilitation of film productions in the region
