Magazine Editor

Organisation/person name:
TPL Media (Trade Publications Ltd)
Work type:
Permanent: Full-Time
Work classification:
Editor - Publishing
Job description:

A leading New Zealand-owned specialist magazine publisher needs an editor for a key publication.

In November, decades of local government by eight councils in Auckland will be replaced with just one ‘super’ city council.
New Zealand Local Government magazine needs to keep pace with this significant change in Auckland and with downstream ramifications for all local bodies throughout the country.
We need an editor – possibly with experience in covering Parliament and central government ¬– who can understand the new dynamic between the Auckland council, central government and local government nationally.

TPL Media will provide strong support for the new editor, but the successful candidate will need to take charge quickly and drive news and feature coverage for the magazine.
All articles will be pitched directly at readers within local government, and so the ability to write for a specialist, knowledgeable audience is required.
Experience in maintaining a news website will be an advantage, along with excellent time management skills and a professional approach to meeting editorial and production deadlines.
