Do you have a passion for online news, great writing skills, an eye for accuracy and good editorial sense?

3news.co.nz is looking for an ambitious, fast-thinking journalist to work as part of our team. You should be a quick learner and able to work well under time pressure - breaking news first is extremely important to us.

You will answer to the Chief Editor of the 3news.co.nz site and be an integral part of a busy national newsroom. Responsibilities including the sourcing, selecting and placing of stories, writing headlines and captions and cutting pictures and video. Online editors are also expected to contribute original pieces of journalism where appropriate.

Skills you will need:

1. Journalism qualification or work experience of at least a year
2. Ability to write concisely but also with flair
3. Excellent grammar and punctuation
4. A good general knowledge of New Zealand and overseas news, politics and sports
5. An obsession with online media
6. Website experience a bonus - as is video editing

This job is for 23 hours a week - mainly Thursday and Friday with some weekend work.
