This is a rare opportunity to work as part of our small, multi-skilled team as our Sports Journalist.

RNZI broadcasts to the Pacific and we are looking for a journalist to compile and read hourly morning sports bulletins which are re-broadcast on local radio stations in ten Pacific countries as well as to produce and present a weekly sports programme and other feature pieces.

The successful applicant will be passionate about sport with knowledge of a wide range of codes. You will be multi-skilled and have:

  • A strong interest and understanding of the Pacific region
  • A strong interest in covering sports stories from the Pacific region and from New Zealand and worldwide.
  • A strong broadcast quality voice.
  • Some experience in reporting, writing stories and compiling packages.

Work hours are Monday to Friday morning shifts which start from 5.00am and the position is Wellington based.
