Southern Rural Life is looking for a self-motivated reporter with an interest in rural issues, farms and farmers for a part-time position on our award-winning newspaper. A knowledge of farming and the rural sector is an advantage but is not essential. 

Southern Rural Life is a fortnightly publication distrubuted to 21,000 RDs in Otago and Southland. It is part of the Allied Press company’s stable of newspapers. 

As part of the team, you will be responsible primarily for generating our Southland coverage, with some coverage of Fiordland, South and West Otago also required. Hours are negotiable, up to 20 per week. There is the option of working from home or in one of our regional offices.

Key skills sought: 

A knowledge of farming and the rural sector is an advantage but is not essential.
