Te Papa Press is New Zealand’s unique museum publisher, producing books on New Zealand’s art, culture, history and natural world.

We are seeking an enthusiastic new staff member to assist the publishing and editorial team in all aspects of the development, production and publication of our books. 

This is a permanent position for a minimum of 12 hours per week. It includes market research, preparing contracts, text and image research, copyright clearance, editorial and proofing work, assistance with the marketing and promotion of our books, and basic administration.

To be successful in this role you will be an energetic person with:

  • Strong organisational ability, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a sound grasp of English grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation
  • A good basic understanding of tikanga and some familiarity with te reo Mäori at an elementary level
  • A tertiary-level qualification
  • Certified knowledge of basic editorial and publishing principles and practice, or equivalent experience in a related field.
