Asni: Multimedia Art & Design

Asni aims to use her experience in online arts promotion and as a business owner, to build sites that harness the power of the internet while remaining affordable on an artist’s or small business owner’s budget.

Asni has designed and built websites since 2002. She set up www.asni.net after attending a weekend class on “How to build your own website”, originally with the aim to promote her career as a professional musician.

Within two years, the site was attracting substantial numbers of visitors, and generating a small but regular and steadily increasing income from online shop sales and licensing fees. For the last year, her web statistics have averaged about 600 to 700 visitors a day.

In 2007, she got stuck with a completed master tape for her “Travels in Middle-earth” CD production and no money to produce the CDs. She used her website, email newsletter and promotion in online communities, and succeeded in raising the funds to publish the CD from pre-orders collected over a period of six months.

The same year, she realized that the internet had moved on from the days when one could create a successful site in a text editor, and successfully completed the Diploma of Multimedia at Natcoll in Wellington in 2008.

As well as writing her own fully customizable HTML and CSS code, she works with PHP and MySQL databases to offer more advanced content management and interactive features, and with Flash to integrate music, video and advanced interactivity.

Asni has been an active member of a number of arts and social communities on the internet, where she discovered her flair for online communication.

As part of her comprehensive web design service, she will offer you solid advice on what to look for in a website, and ideas on how to plan your own website strategy and online publicity campaign, using a number of the free online tools that are available on the net.

She does not believe in bells and whistles or pretty blinky things, but in websites that are well structured, accessible, and focus on getting your message across to the people of this planet. However, making them look nice, too, sure does not hurt!
