Robert ('Ro-bear') Mignault is a passionate professional actor and director with a long history of theatre experience across many disciplines. Trained at The University of Toronto in Canada, he has continued developing his craft with a diverse range of international directors, teachers and actors in Canada, New Zealand, Europe and the US over the last 25 years. Also with a Bachelor of Education from The University of Ottawa, he has instructed drama, circus and leadership skills in formal and informal settings to all ages at every level.
Robert started performing professionally at the age of 15 while touring with a small circus and has been developing his knowledge of theatre and performance ever since. From modern stagecraft, physical theatre, clowning, mask, mime and giant puppetry right through to large-scale multimedia theatrical incidents and live internet broadcasts, he is comfortable working creatively in any setting.
From 2002 to 2005, he served as Artistic Director of The First Room Theatre Guild, a US based ensemble that performs the epic two-day multimedia theatre piece called The Mummery Book. He has continued directing Auckland-based theatre recently with Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (2006), Molière's The Miser (2007) and has created four original large-cast productions: Txt (2007), Fables (For the Rest of Us) (2008), The Mirror Nose (2008), and Just Joe? (2009).
A proud member of The ConArtists, he regularly performs for New Zealand's most discerning corporate clients and comedy-lovers, including the last two years in the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
