Doug Ford

Artist Painter, Muralist and visual surrealist.

Each artwork its has a place, Its the artist way,(self endulgent) I am fortunate this endulgence has provided continuous work for 20+years.

I don't care too much about Gallery's as long as i can hang the new series on a wall, I figure prices and reputations are the hype that enable curators to eat. I am waiting for an invitation I guess.

Key skills:

imagination to think freely and paint without reference

My Social outgoing nature, capturing peoples likeness movement from small to large scales.

Public artwork, I have painted live at certain festivals i have an ability to capture scenes quickly and confidently, to observe and paint.

Murals, Large works, Light and colours and scale are instinctive. I have painted 100's of murals in Wgtn, Ak, Aussi, Europe and the US.

Sketches and penwork. Traveled places and people, political satire.

Artworks, My emotive nature in a surealist style.

Nature our native birds, bush. i understand physics of things thus i am free to put these (birds) into any position.

I paint like a carving, shapes emerge from my brush and my own recollection provide the imagery. This is where my process has evolved to. I do observational paintings but wish i did more,,,imagination to think freely and paint without reference

Education history:

21 years of Murals and exhibitions, and the standard education artists seem to share.

Art & history through the eyes of artists.

The Inspirational murals and to stand in front of the great master of art, It was an arts education I cherish.

To study Europe’s walls, To see the murals and feel the age and weight of light each city had.

That was my European mural trail. Florence has my fresco, a Maria church in Augsburg,Edinborough it was winter, they got lots. Czech too. A New York hotel has a web link...

    coffe and cigerettes

A painter and visualist, Mural Canvas and often anything that has a paintable surface.

Art is my soul food, it keeps me going.

My murals have too much reference and research to be decorative, These are an exploration of techniques, who wants to be bored with a new wall to paint, so its testing yourself and pushing the limits of public acceptance, possibly a bit of mockery but with humour I hope.
