Justin Jade Morgan

Justin Jade Morgan lives and works out of Wellington, New Zealand. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma of Art and Design from Auckland University of Technology and has a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Western Institute of Technology, New Plymouth. Morgan has been exhibiting his work for the last ten years and has been creatively involved in community art projects throughout New Zealand over the past six years including the formation of the JustArt organisation that has curated, supported and sponsored well over 100 artists and organisations. He was a team member of the first International new media Solar Circuit Aotearoa New Zealand (residency), and was a board member for the North Taranaki Community Arts Council in 2005/06. Morgan was also the 2007 artist resident at the Western Institute of Technology and the 2002 artist in residence/teacher aid at Woodleigh Primary. He has spent several years working for arts organisations in many positions, for example he spent two years at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery running children’s art classes and working as an information officer. He is currently employed as a senior extramural art tutor at the The Learning Connection in Wellington. Morgan was selected in 2008 to be the first New Zealand artist to exhibit and present a floor talk at the 3rd ‘Archipelag’ International Contemporary Arts Festival between Nova Gorcia (Slovenia) and Gorizi (Italy). And in 2009 he was selected to take part in the A.I.R Vallauris residency in the South of France during the summer of 2010.

 Photographing work for Digital Records

 Motivation and guidance of a group of students of different abilities including hearing impaired and correctional students

 Regular contact with students by email, phone, blog, face to face or letter

 First point of contact for queries

  Respond to requests for supplementary resources

 Keep students updated on their progress via telephone, email, blog or skype

 Fill in for or assist other EM tutors in case of sickness/leave/overload

 Identify students who have fallen behind with their work and liaise with Em Programme Support and EM Administrator.

Motivate students to move to the next phase of their course

 Entering notes into database pertaining to student’s work and progress

  Meeting new and prospective students

  Helping Extramural Administration with mail outs

Writing  / Presentation

Experience writing exhibition, media and artist statements

Proposal and funding application experience 

Written and verbal critiques and feedback for students and artists at many different stages of development

Exhibition / installation experience
