Brief Personal profile:
I am a writer, visual artist and professional educator with over 15 years experience working with people on creative projects in both educational and community contexts. Born and educated in the SW of England, I spent 12 years teaching in tertiary education institutions in South Devon before travelling to live and teach in other countries. I have a Masters degree (Creative Arts in Education) from the University of Exeter. I am currently living in Wellington, New Zealand and have permanent residency status .
I am personally interested in text-art, fiction writing and performance poetry and was an open mic participant at Uncut Poets – Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre. I participated in masterclasses in performance poetry within a variety of contexts at TR2, Plymouth – an Apples and Snakes initiative - and was an Apples and Snakes performer at the Peterloo Poets venue, Calstock, Cornwall, UK

Please Drive Slowly/ The Fractal Case – an image/text work was shown at the Plough Arts Centre, Torrington throughout July of 2005 and Dartington Library , UK, February, 2007.
I was commissioned to produce TRIG – a multi-site image/text residency in response to the life of the explorer/navigator William Wills - for the Exeter tEXt Festival, UK, 2006.
Extracts from TRIG and The Fractal Case were published in The Journal for Contemporary Anglo-Scandinavian poetry, 2007. Examples of these works and other works can also be found at www.coolerplanetwriting.com
I am currently working on image/text/soundart project Lightwife, a response to the life of Mary Jane Hebden Bennett – the first lighthouse keeper in New Zealand. Screen-based examples from this work-in-progress were shown at The Square Edge Gallery, Palmerston Nth, October – November, 2008 as part of the Festival of the New World.
I am also writing a verse novel, the Loaning, that will become part of a PhD by practice.
