Michelle Clayton

As a designer I enjoy working and collaborating with others in community and commerce led projects.  From the intimacy of Knitting Noras to large Glastonbury arena tents I am confident in my ability to communicate and work as part of or lead a team of people to achieve the required outcome.

I have drawn great satisfaction from working on community art projects, I see infinite value in these programs, to provide a different place for people to consider creative solutions to community problems.

My own design discipline addresses human interaction and sustainability, with a view to unearthing a new relationship between people and the environment. My work focuses on reusing materials that may otherwise be discarded. I find that setting myself material restrictions leads to more creative solutions to design issues.

My creative skills are extensive and multidisciplinary.  I have worked in many materials and am always eager to use and discover the possibilities of new ones.

The group is growing all the time, recently we were interviewed by Radio Solent and we featured in a regional magazine. We have applied for a plot in the Greencrafts Field at Glastonbury 2010 to spread the word of knitting and recycling. This will be supported by an interactive educational program I have written as part of my final major Degree project.
